With this device, you are assured of instant notifications whenever sound or motion activity gets detected. Google or Alexa Assistant and 1080p high-definition video to supported displays, including your smartphone.
The Kasa Spot also provides HD video of up to twenty feet, inclusive of night vision features. It also allows you to customize the zones you deem most important, including the type of alerts you would like to receive.
Design
Let’s start this TP-Link Kasa Spot Indoor Camera review by looking at its design. While it’s designed is not likely to win any awards soon, the Kasa Spot isn’t all that bad to look at.
It features a curved, square camera sitting at the top of a whitish stalk clipped into a stand. This provides it with some flexibility when it comes to pointing and positioning the camera.
The gadget is powered through a micro-USB as well as a mains adapter. Both of these are included in the box.

While there are cameras in the market that go as high as 4K, 1080p HD is not bad, especially for a home setting. Most users are more than impressed with the camera quality, and so am I!
The device is quite proficient at noticing major movements occurring in front of it, using the motion detection zones.
BUT, it does tend to ignore the minor or smaller movements. However, the good news is that you can adjust its sensitivity if you feel the need to notice everything happening in your residence.
Audio Rating and Quality
Kasa Spot comes with crisp 2-way audio.
You never have to worry about opening the door to confirm whether the delivery person has arrived. You can do it using this two-way audio! The audio also comes with an in-built siren. Potential intruders can be scared away using the awesome in-build siren!
With sound and motion detection, the Kasa Smart Application is able to provide you with alerts whenever there is an activity that should be brought to your attention.
Mobile App
The Kasa App comprises five main tabs and has been designed for use with many products. New cameras will become visible once added to the main tab within the app.
The camera has been provided with a separate Snapshot tab as well as a Scenes tab. This makes it possible for you to activate and deactivate devices, set up some scenes, and even determine what happens during certain times of the day.
A fourth tab has been included to showcase the Smart Actions, with the final tab being specifically set aside for Activities. As the name suggests, the tab can show what is happening on all Kasa devices. It can also be used to playback clips that have already been recorded, delete, share, and download clips.
Warranty
Kasa Spot comes with a two-year warranty from the manufacturer. This means that you have twenty-four months to send it back to the manufacturer if it’s faulty.
It is, however, important to make sure that you read the warranty terms & conditions. Then you will know what is covered by the warranty and what is not. Standard stuff, really.
Also, note that dismantling the device or opening its case will automatically void the manufacturer’s warranty.
Conclusion
TP-Link’s Kasa Spot can properly cover all the basics. It performs flawlessly well especially considering its low price.
This is something that every homeowner should consider including in their shortlist for the next time that they are out shopping for a good indoor security camera.
While it’s not yet in the top tier category for its software and hardware options, it does come remarkably close in all categories. And for many homeowners, this should be more than enough.
